The San Diego Historical Society is an educational and cultural institution dedicated to preserving and sharing its growing historical collections and extensive archives with its members, visitors, and the community. They strive to connect the past to the future so all generations will understand and appreciate the richness of San Diego's regional history. The Historical Society maintains four separate museum facilities.
The Marston House Museum, located just north of Balboa Park, is one of San Diego’s finest examples of the Arts and Crafts architectural movement. Completed in 1905 for prominent merchant and civic leader, George W. Marston and his family, this 8,500 square-foot home is surrounded by four acres of rolling lawns, manicured formal gardens, and canyon pathways.
The Historical Society's other museum facilities include the Junipero Serra Musuem, located in Presidio Park; the Museum of San Diego History, located in Balboa Park; and Villa Montezuma, located in downtown San Diego.
